Default Settings Tab
Help Table of Contents
The Default Settings Tab allows you to set defaults for values that you will repeat
many times during normal shipping operation. For example, if you usually ship
by Ground delivery service, you can set the delivery service to default to Ground
in the default settings. When you go to ship a package on the Shipping Options
tab, the carrier service will automatically be set to Ground. This saves you from
having to set the same values over and over again.
- If you ship more packages than Express Letters, set the Package Type to Package.
If you mostly ship Express Letters set the Package Type to Letter.
- If most of
your shipments go to residential addresses click the Residential
checkbox.
- If you usually will want a signature from the receiver of the package
click the Signature Required checkbox.
- If you usually have
the carrier hold the package at the carrier location closest to the receiver of
the package, click the Hold At Location checkbox.
- If your labels
will be printed on 4x6 thermal labels click the Print on 4x6 Labels
checkbox. You have the option of printing labels on 8.5 x 11 inch paper if
you don't have a thermal printer. If you don't have a thermal printer, do
not check the Print on 4x6 Labels checkbox.
- If you normally will print a Packing
Slip, click the Print Packing Slip checkbox.
- If you would like
to provide your customer with an advance E-mail notification upon shipping your
package, you will need to set the value for your outgoing SMTP mail server.
- The person receiving your package will also receive an E-mail by the
shipping carrier. You can put a message in the E-mail from the carrier.
Put your message in the field labeled Email Notification message from Carrier.
- The Alternate Package Pickup Location is a location of your business
that is different than the address in the Business Info Tab. If the Alternate
Package Pickup Location is filled in, the shipping carrier will come to this address
to pick up packages. If you don't have an alternate pickup location, you can
leave these fields empty.
- If you will be using Endicia for printed postage, you can check the Stealth
Postage box. This will cause postage to be printed on your label,
but will not show the amount of the postage. For example, if you charge a
flat rate shipping fee of $11.95 for the product you sell, you may not want your
customer to see the postage only cost $6.55. Stealth postage allows you to protect
your profits and keep the customer happy.
Even though DHL no longer supports domestic shipments within the USA, they still
support any outgoing international express letters and packages. DHL is extremely
competitive for international shipping. If you will be shipping international
packages or letters, you will want to check the Enable DHL box.
This will allow you to ship international packages and letters with DHL. It will
also consider DHL prices and services in any international rate shopping you do
with the Shipping Saver application.
The eBay Auto
Retrieve box is checked by default. If the eBay Auto Retrieve box is checked,
the Shipping Saver will automatically retrieve order information about your items
sold on eBay during the past 2 weeks. This automatic retrieval of orders will take place each time you start up
the shipping saver. So each time you start up the shipping saver you will have all of your most recent items sold
from eBay. If you click the eBay Feedback box, you can
then type in a message for your eBay buyers. You can leave a positive message
and the Shipping Saver will automatically leave your buyers the feedback message
upon shipping the items. The Shipping Saver will automatically complete the eBay
sale and mark your item as shipped.
